Happiness with Family and Friends
Its funny how you can meet people and the degree of Happiness you pick up from them can vary by a large degree. I have met those who have had great tragedies in their lives but somehow overcame them and still have a sense of Happiness about themselves and their lives, as if they have found peace with all of it. And I have met those who by any material measure have gained success in the endeavors but I didn’t feel anywhere near the amount of happiness that I would have thought, given the circumstance. Why is that, I have asked myself.
“A happy family is but an earlier heaven.”
-George Bernard Shaw
It doesn’t seem that Happiness is all that financially driven. So is the old phrase you can’t buy Happiness true? It seems like most of us still equate happiness to a place in life we are striving for, some benchmark that will equate with success and the elusive happiness we all strive for. Yet still that is not what happens all of the time. Too many stories of Financial success coupled with personal failings of those left with great material wealth but also high levels of stress, depression, and unhappiness. And then you see stories of Monks living without any of the basic luxuries we are used to and they seem to reek with happiness, Ok so what gives? Why do some people have more happiness than others?
Is Happiness that elusive or is it easily obtained?
We do not remember days; we remember moments.
Or is it all around us? When we choose to let it in or let it out. Could it be in the Family we have and the friends we keep? The experiences of Life itself, Happiness is the High in the cycle of our emotions. Can we generate it ourselves or do we need others to make the magic happen or is it both? Isn’t that what went into the creation of the words Friends and Family. The ability for people to go beyond the formal wink and nod of daily life. To take each other farther emotionally, to encompass Love, Trust, Friendship and with this package comes the ability to generate Happiness in those who truly give and in return receive.
What would the world be like without Friends and Family? Happiness would surely be more elusive if not impossible without someone to share your deepest thoughts, and concerns. To share those special moments that make up the best of our lives.
“True friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.”
“You don’t choose your family. They are God’s gift to you, as you are to them”.
